How are the support reactions calculated?
Reaction B is found by taking moments about support A: the sum of each load multiplied by its distance from support A, divided by the total span. Reaction A is then found from overall vertical equilibrium, the total load minus reaction B.
What if I only have one load?
Set the second load magnitude to zero and the calculation reduces to the standard single point load case.
Does this handle a distributed load?
No, this version handles up to two point loads on a simply supported beam. A uniform distributed load can be approximated as a single equivalent point load at the midpoint of the loaded length for a rough estimate.
