Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between RPM and CPM?

CPM (Cost per Mille) is what advertisers pay per 1,000 ad impressions. RPM (Revenue per Mille) is what you, the creator, actually receive per 1,000 views — after YouTube's cut and accounting for videos that show fewer ads or none at all.

Where can I find my actual RPM?

Your real RPM is available in YouTube Studio under Analytics → Revenue. Using your own historical RPM gives a far more accurate forecast than industry averages.

Does RPM include Shorts revenue?

YouTube Shorts revenue is calculated and paid out differently (through a separate revenue-sharing pool), so Shorts RPM is typically much lower than long-form video RPM — check Shorts performance separately.
