How much is the Child Tax Credit?
The Child Tax Credit is $2,200 per qualifying child under 17. It phases out at $50 for every $1,000 (or part of $1,000) of AGI above $200,000 (Single/Head of Household) or $400,000 (Married Filing Jointly).
Is this the same as the pandemic-era Child Tax Credit?
No. The temporary 2021 American Rescue Plan expansion ($3,600 for children under 6, $3,000 for ages 6-17, with much lower phase-out thresholds) expired after one year. Current law uses a flat $2,200 per child regardless of age, with the higher $200,000/$400,000 phase-out thresholds shown here.
