Frequently Asked Questions
How are pivot points calculated?
PP = (High + Low + Close) / 3. R1 = 2xPP - Low, S1 = 2xPP - High. R2/S2 = PP +/- (R1 - S1). R3 = High + 2x(PP - Low), S3 = Low - 2x(High - PP). This is the classic (Floor Trader) pivot point method.
How do traders use pivot points?
Pivot points are used as reference levels for potential support and resistance in the current trading period -- price approaching a resistance level may reverse downward, while approaching a support level may reverse upward, though neither is guaranteed.
