Frequently Asked Questions

Why does check time matter for basal body temperature?

Basal body temperature is meant to reflect your temperature at rest, immediately upon waking. The longer you are awake before taking your temperature, the more it naturally rises, which can throw off ovulation tracking.

How much does temperature rise per minute awake?

As a general rule, temperature increases by about 0.05C for every 30 minutes after waking, which this calculator uses to adjust your reading back to your usual check time.

What if I checked earlier than usual instead of later?

Enter your actual check time as normal. The calculator automatically adds the adjustment instead of subtracting it when your actual time is earlier than your usual time.

Is this adjustment precise for everyone?

The 0.05C-per-30-minutes rule is a general guideline. Individual temperature rise rates can vary, so use the adjusted value as an estimate rather than an exact figure.
