TI-RADS Calculator (Thyroid Nodule Risk)
Health & FitnessCalculate the TI-RADS score used to estimate thyroid nodule malignancy risk from ultrasound features.
TI-RADS Points
Total TI-RADS points. Educational reference only, not a substitute for radiologist interpretation. Multiple echogenic foci types can apply simultaneously in the full system; this uses the single highest-scoring type for simplicity.
TI-RADS Category
General TI-RADS category and malignancy risk based on the total points. TR1 - benign (~0.3% malignancy risk)

Frequently Asked Questions
What is TI-RADS used for?
TI-RADS (Thyroid Imaging Reporting and Data System) standardizes how thyroid nodules seen on ultrasound are described and risk-stratified, helping decide whether a biopsy (fine needle aspiration) is needed.
What TI-RADS category needs a biopsy?
Whether biopsy is recommended depends on both the TI-RADS category and the nodules size, with higher-risk categories (TR4 and TR5) generally recommended for biopsy at smaller sizes than lower-risk categories.
Can multiple echogenic foci types apply at once?
In the full TI-RADS system, yes, multiple echogenic focus types can be present and their points combined. This calculator simplifies to the single highest-scoring type present for ease of use, which may slightly understate the total in cases with multiple types.
Is this calculator a substitute for medical advice?
No. This is an educational reference implementation of the standard TI-RADS system, not a substitute for a radiologists interpretation of an actual ultrasound.
