Why does elevation matter so much for flood risk?
Lower-elevation properties are more susceptible to both storm surge and inland flooding from heavy rainfall, since water naturally flows toward and accumulates in lower areas relative to surrounding terrain.
Do I need flood insurance if I'm not in a designated flood zone?
