Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Dividend Discount Model?
The Dividend Discount Model (Gordon Growth Model) values a stock as the present value of all its future dividends, assuming dividends grow at a constant rate forever: Value = D1 / (Required Return - Growth Rate).
What happens if the growth rate is higher than the required return?
The model breaks down and produces a meaningless negative value, since it assumes the growth rate must stay below the discount rate forever for the sum of discounted dividends to converge.
