Does ROI account for the time value of money?
No, basic ROI does not factor in how long the investment was held, which is why comparing ROI across investments of different durations can be misleading without also considering CAGR or annualized return.
Should fees and taxes be included in investment cost?
For an accurate true return, include any transaction fees, commissions, or other costs in your investment cost figure, since these reduce your actual net return even though they may not always be obvious upfront.
