How do I calculate a discount?
Multiply the original price by the discount percentage and divide by 100 to get the discount amount. Subtract that from the original price to get the sale price. Example: $120 at 25% off = $120 × 0.25 = $30 off = $90.
How do I calculate the original price from a sale price?
Divide the sale price by (1 - discount). For example, if an item is $90 after a 25% discount: $90 ÷ 0.75 = $120 original price.
How do I stack multiple discounts?
Apply discounts sequentially, not additively. A 20% discount followed by a 10% discount is not 30% off. Example: $100 → $80 (after 20%) → $72 (after 10%) = 28% total off, not 30%.
