Frequently Asked Questions
How do you find a missing endpoint from a midpoint?
Since the midpoint is the average of both endpoints, the missing endpoint equals twice the midpoint coordinate minus the known endpoint coordinate.
What is the missing endpoint if one endpoint is (2, 4) and the midpoint is (4, 7)?
The missing endpoint is (6, 10).
Why does this formula work?
It rearranges the midpoint formula, which averages the two endpoints, to solve for the unknown endpoint instead of the midpoint.
