What does the t-value tell me?
The t-value measures the size of the difference between two sample means relative to the variation within the samples. Larger absolute t-values suggest a more significant difference between the groups.
What is a significant t-value?
It depends on your degrees of freedom and chosen confidence level, but as a rough guide, a t-value beyond ±2 often suggests a statistically significant difference at the 95% confidence level for moderately sized samples.
Is this a paired or independent t-test?
This calculator performs an independent (unpaired) two-sample t-test using Welch's formula, which does not assume equal variances between the two groups.
