Why does this formula use the number 32?
The formula is built around the observation that a kitten reaches about half of its final adult weight at around 16 weeks old. Multiplying by 32 (twice 16) extrapolates the weight-to-age ratio out to the point of full adult size.
Does this account for breed?
No, this formula is breed-agnostic, using only the kitten own current age and weight rather than a breed-specific adult weight target, making it usable even for mixed-breed cats without a known breed standard.
How is this different from the pet breed growth predictor?
The pet breed growth predictor requires already knowing a target adult weight for the breed and tracks progress toward it. This calculator instead derives a predicted adult weight directly from the kitten current age and weight alone, with no breed information needed.
