Frequently Asked Questions
How is the number of pavers calculated?
Each paver's face area, length times width, determines how many fit in one square foot, 144 square inches. That rate is multiplied by the total project area, then increased by the waste factor to account for cuts and breakage.
What waste factor should I use for a complex pattern?
10 percent is a reasonable default for a simple running-bond layout. A herringbone, basketweave, or circular pattern typically needs more cutting, so 15 to 20 percent waste is more realistic for those layouts.
Does this include the base material, gravel, and sand?
No, this covers the pavers and installation labor only. Base gravel and bedding sand quantities should be calculated separately, for example with a gravel or paver sand calculator.
