Frequently Asked Questions
How is SWP duration calculated?
Each period, the remaining balance grows at the periodic rate of return and then has the withdrawal amount subtracted; this is repeated until the balance reaches zero, counting the number of withdrawals along the way.
What happens if the withdrawal rate is lower than the return rate?
If your periodic withdrawal is smaller than the growth your balance earns each period, the corpus never depletes -- this calculator caps its simulation at 1,200 withdrawals (100 years at a monthly frequency) as a practical ceiling.
