Frequently Asked Questions
What is BMR?
Basal Metabolic Rate is the number of calories your body needs to perform basic life-sustaining functions — breathing, circulation, cell production, and nutrient processing — while at complete rest.
What is the difference between BMR and TDEE?
BMR is your calorie burn at rest. TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) is BMR multiplied by your activity level. Most people burn 20-100% more than their BMR depending on how active they are.
Why does BMR decrease with age?
BMR decreases roughly 1-2% per decade after age 20, primarily due to loss of muscle mass (sarcopenia). Regular resistance training can slow or partially reverse this decline.
