The Duke Treadmill Score combines exercise duration, ST-segment changes on ECG, and angina symptoms from an exercise stress test into a single score estimating cardiac risk and prognosis.
What does a negative score mean?
A negative score reflects meaningful ST-segment depression and/or exercise-limiting angina relative to how long the patient exercised, and scores below -10 are associated with meaningfully higher risk.
How is this score used clinically?
A low-risk score can often support a more conservative management approach, while a high-risk score often prompts further evaluation such as cardiac catheterization.
