Frequently Asked Questions
What is a healthy hCG doubling time?
In general, a healthy early pregnancy shows hCG doubling roughly every 30 to 72 hours when levels are under 1200 mIU/mL, slowing to every 72 to 96 hours between 1200 and 6000 mIU/mL, and even slower above that.
Does slower doubling always mean a problem?
Not necessarily. hCG rise rates vary between individuals and pregnancies. A single pair of readings outside the typical range is not diagnostic on its own, and your doctor will usually want to see a trend over multiple readings.
Why does doubling time slow down as hCG rises?
hCG production naturally slows as pregnancy progresses past the very early weeks, so a slower doubling rate at higher levels is expected and not automatically a warning sign.
Should I make medical decisions based on this calculator?
No. This calculator is an educational reference only, not a substitute for professional medical advice. Always discuss your hCG results with your doctor or midwife.
