Frequently Asked Questions
What counts as a regular polygon?
Any closed shape with 3 or more straight sides, where every side has the same length and every interior angle is equal. Equilateral triangles, squares, regular pentagons, and regular hexagons are all examples.
How does interior angle relate to the number of sides?
As the number of sides increases, the interior angle gets closer to 180 degrees, and the shape looks more like a circle. A triangle has 60 degree angles while a 20-sided polygon has 162 degree angles.
Is this the same formula used for the named polygon pages like Hexagon or Pentagon?
Yes, this calculator uses the identical general regular polygon formulas, just with the number of sides as an adjustable input instead of fixed to one specific named polygon.
