Frequently Asked Questions

How is sample size calculated?

Sample size is calculated using your desired confidence level, acceptable margin of error, and population size, assuming maximum variability (50% response distribution) for the most conservative estimate.

What confidence level should I use?

95% is the industry standard for most surveys and research. Use 99% for high-stakes decisions where precision matters more, or 90% when you need a quicker, less rigorous estimate.

Does population size matter much?

For large populations (over 20,000), increasing the population further barely changes the required sample size. The required sample size only drops significantly for genuinely small populations.
