Frequently Asked Questions
Why is your weight different on other planets?
Weight depends on the local gravitational pull, which varies by a planet mass and radius — your mass stays the same everywhere, but the force of gravity acting on you (your weight) changes based on each planet surface gravity.
Why would I weigh more on Jupiter despite it being a gas giant?
Jupiter enormous mass produces stronger surface gravity than Earth despite its lower average density, since gravitational pull depends on both mass and radius — Jupiter mass effect outweighs its larger radius.
Is this the weight at the planet visible surface?
For gas giants like Jupiter and Saturn, this uses the gravity value at the cloud-top level often cited in reference data, since they have no solid surface to stand on.
