Frequently Asked Questions
What is a roofing square?
A roofing square is a standard unit equal to 100 square feet of roof area, commonly used for pricing and ordering shingles and other roofing materials.
How many bundles cover one square?
With the default 33.3 square feet of coverage per bundle, 3 bundles cover one 100 square foot roofing square, a standard packaging convention for many asphalt shingle products. Adjust the bundle coverage field if your specific shingle product covers a different area.
Should I add extra for waste and ridge caps?
Yes. This calculates the base area coverage only; add roughly 10 to 15 percent extra for cutting waste, plus additional bundles for ridge cap shingles along hips and ridges.
