Frequently Asked Questions
How is formula intake estimated?
This calculator multiplies your baby weight by an age-specific formula requirement rate, then divides by the number of daily feedings.
Why is the rate for 1 to 4 days different?
In the first few days of life, babies have very small stomach capacity and take in only small amounts of colostrum or formula, which increases quickly over the following days.
How many feedings per day is typical?
Newborns often feed 8 or more times per day, gradually decreasing to around 5 to 6 times per day by a few months of age as feeding volume per session increases.
Should I follow this exactly to the milliliter?
Use this as a general starting guideline. Babies vary in appetite, and your pediatrician can help address any specific feeding or growth concerns.
