Frequently Asked Questions

What if my daily consumed amount is higher than my daily pumped amount?

If you are consuming more than you pump, you have a daily deficit rather than a surplus, and you will draw down any existing stash instead of building one. Enter your numbers as given to see the actual deficit.

How much should I be pumping to maintain supply?

Many exclusively pumping mothers aim for at least 120 minutes of total pumping time per day, spread across multiple sessions, to help maintain adequate milk supply.

Does this calculator account for an existing freezer stash?

This version calculates days needed to build a target stash from zero. If you already have some stash, subtract what you already have from your target amount before entering it.

Will my daily surplus stay the same over time?

Milk supply and how much a baby consumes both change over time, so treat this as a snapshot estimate based on your current numbers rather than a fixed long-term prediction.
