What is the DAPT Score used for?
The DAPT Score helps decide whether continuing dual antiplatelet therapy (aspirin plus a second blood-thinning medication) beyond 12 months after coronary stenting is likely to provide more benefit than risk, compared to aspirin alone.
What does a high DAPT score mean?
A score of 2 or higher suggests the benefit of reduced heart attack and stent-clotting risk from prolonged therapy is likely to outweigh the increased bleeding risk.
What does a low or negative DAPT score mean?
A score below 2 suggests aspirin alone is likely to have a more favorable risk-benefit balance than continuing dual antiplatelet therapy long-term.
