What is qSOFA used for?
qSOFA (quick Sequential Organ Failure Assessment) is a fast, 3-criteria bedside screen used to quickly identify patients with suspected infection who may be at higher risk of poor outcomes, without needing lab results.
How is qSOFA different from full SOFA?
qSOFA uses only 3 easily observed clinical signs and requires no lab tests, designed for rapid bedside or out-of-ICU use, while the full SOFA score uses 6 organ systems and requires lab values, typically used in ICU settings.
What qSOFA score is concerning?
A score of 2 or higher is associated with a meaningfully higher risk of poor outcomes in patients with suspected infection, and generally prompts further evaluation for sepsis and consideration of higher-level care.
Is this calculator a substitute for medical advice?
