Frequently Asked Questions
What is cosecant?
Cosecant is the reciprocal of sine, csc(angle) = 1 / sin(angle).
When is cosecant undefined?
Cosecant is undefined whenever sine is zero (at 0 degrees, 180 degrees, and so on).
What range does cosecant fall in?
Since sine ranges from -1 to 1, its reciprocal cosecant only reaches -1 or 1 at the extremes, and grows without bound as sine approaches zero, so cosecant's output is everything outside the range (-1, 1).
