Land is measured in different units in different places. US deeds use acres and square feet, most other countries use hectares and square meters, Sri Lanka still uses acres, roods and perches, and plots in South India are sold by the cent or the guntha. All of them are fixed sizes, defined from the meter, the foot or the acre, so they convert without guesswork.
Results show up to six decimal places, so a very small area in a large unit, such as a few square feet in square miles, can round to 0; the single converters below show more digits. You can type fractions, such as 2 1/2 acres.

Exact means the value follows from a definition, so the number shown is complete. Convention means the unit is defined by custom from the acre or the yard, and the land record governs if it says otherwise.
Regional Land Units
Some land units have no single size, so this converter leaves them out on purpose. The bigha, used in parts of India, Nepal and Bangladesh, differs from one state to the next and sometimes between districts of the same state, and the katha, marla and kanal vary too. A bigha conversion is only right for the place the land is in.
Property sites commonly give the marla as 272.25 square feet, the same area as a perch or square rod, but other sizes are also used, so check which one a deed or listing means. For any of these units, the safest route is the land record itself: find the area it gives in square feet, square meters or acres, then convert that here.
The cent, guntha and gaj do have settled sizes in property use: a cent is a hundredth of an acre, a guntha a fortieth of an acre, and a gaj a square yard. The single converters below show each one.
Land Area vs Length
A common mix-up is treating an area figure as a length. A lot 100 feet on each side is 10,000 square feet, about 0.23 acre, not 100 of anything. A lot 200 feet by 200 feet is 40,000 square feet, about 0.92 acre, a little under an acre.
Rates mix the two scales too. A fertilizer or seed rate per acre divides by 43.56 to give the rate per 1,000 square feet, because an acre is 43.56 thousand square feet: 87 pounds per acre is about 2 pounds per 1,000 square feet.
