Frequently Asked Questions
How is block coverage calculated?
A standard nominal 16 by 8 inch concrete block, including its mortar joint, covers about 0.89 square feet of wall face. Wall area divided by this figure gives the raw block count before waste.
Why include a waste buffer?
Cutting blocks for corners, openings, and courses, plus breakage, typically adds 5 to 15 percent extra material to a real order. The default here is 10 percent.
Does this account for openings like doors and windows?
No. Subtract the area of any doors, windows, or other openings from your wall area before entering it, for a more accurate count.
