The inch (in) is the US unit for screens, tools, paper, clothing and anything measured with a ruler or tape. Since July 1, 1959 an inch has been exactly 2.54 centimeters, so every conversion here is exact.
Inches can be typed as decimals or fractions: 2.5, 5/8 and 2 3/8 all work, and the chart below lists every sixteenth of an inch as a decimal. Lengths cannot be negative, so a negative entry clears the other boxes.

How Many Centimeters in an Inch
There are exactly 2.54 centimeters in an inch. The 1959 agreement described by NIST fixed the inch at exactly 25.4 millimeters, which is 2.54 cm. Multiply inches by 2.54 to get centimeters, or divide centimeters by 2.54 to get inches.
Reading Inch Fractions on a Ruler
