Heights in feet and inches use two numbers, such as 5 ft 7 in. Decimal feet are a different thing: 5.5 ft means five and a half feet, which is 5 ft 6 in, not 5 ft 5 in. This converter shows both, so a height never gets misread.

How to Convert Height in CM to Feet and Inches
- Divide the height in centimeters by 2.54 to get total inches: 170 cm / 2.54 = 66.93 in.
- Divide the total inches by 12. The whole number is the feet: 66.93 / 12 = 5 ft with a remainder.
- Multiply the leftover feet by 12, or subtract 60 from 66.93, to get the inches: 6.93 in.
- So 170 cm is 5 ft 6.93 in, which most people round to 5 ft 7 in.
To go the other way, multiply the feet by 12, add the inches, then multiply by 2.54: 5 ft 7 in is 67 in, and 67 × 2.54 = 170.18 cm.
